Get to Know the Artist - Joseph Hernandez
Joseph creates ornamental welding that builds upon historical styles as well as the changing world of today. He has been fascinated with welding and iron work since at age15 and has spent may years creating various ironwork during off-time for friends and relatives.
A self taught fabricator with a knack and skill for welding designs that fit into communities, buildings, specialty stores and peoples ideas. He is also, fascinated with ornamental iron designing, welding and complete wrought iron fixtures for displays at specialty shops. Specializes in heavy, rugged and historical styles of iron work and welding. He had shop welding experience at a fabrication company while living in Hawaii. As a subsistence hunter, he collects some materials for his work from historical buildings and salvage yards adding an important cultural and historical touch to his work through recycling. He has the ability to use different materials for a multi faceted approach in his work.
He has exhibited his work just recently in a brand new gallery in California and will do so at the forthcoming opening of the Copper Art Museum in Clarkdale, AZ. July, 2012. His iron work there will be displayed daily to tourists worldwide. JP resides with his lady friend in Cottonwood, AZ.
