Meet the Artist- Mike Delavega
Mike DelaVega, a member of the maintenance team at Cliff Castle Casino-Hotel, painted this wine barrel, which sits just within the entrance of the Casino, based in historic Camp Verde, AZ. The barrel depicts landscape and vineyard scenes from around the Verde Valley.
All of the Casino’s restaurants: The Gallery, The Gathering and Storytellers, have begun serving wine from local Verde Valley wineries, including Alcantara, Arizona Stronghold, Freitas, Javalina Leap, Jerome Winery, Pillsbury, Page Springs and Oak Creek Winery. The restaurants also offer wine flights, a sampling of several wines—and a good way for those interested in wine culture to increase their wine knowledge and to try a variety of local vintages.
DelaVega, who has been with the casino for over 10 years, has also been painting for over 20 years. He teaches art classes for employees at the casino and enjoys painting landscapes, murals and woodworking. Over the years, he has been commissioned to paint murals for businesses such as Sunrise Resorts, Mary’s Diner and Pershing General Hospital’s long term care facility. His work is featured prominently along the hallways and rooms of the casino.
